One dish that's a staple at many summer gatherings—including Wendi's family table—is a classic Seven Layer Salad. It's easy to prepare ahead of time, serves a crowd, and always seems to disappear before the end of the meal.
🥗 Wendi's Favorite Seven Layer Salad
Ingredients
- 1 large head iceberg lettuce, chopped
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 1 cup frozen peas, thawed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 6–8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 4 green onions, thinly sliced
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
- In a large glass bowl or trifle dish, layer the lettuce, celery, peas, cheddar cheese, bacon, and green onions.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, sugar, and a pinch of salt and pepper until smooth.
- Spread the dressing evenly over the top of the salad, sealing it all the way to the edges.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to come together.
- Toss just before serving and enjoy!
